Episode 53- Gargoyles

Gargoyles is about as dark a product as Disney has ever produced (with the exception of the Satanism at the end of Fantasia and the gleeful racism of Song of the South). From the studio that brought us Tale Spin, Gargoyles was a 1994 children’s cartoon series about legendary Scottish monsters who are awakened in modern day New York by an evil millionaire voiced by, and oddly modeled after Jonathan Frakes. It was awesome when we were kids, but does it hold up now? Download the link below to find out, or better yet, subscribe on iTunes! And be sure to follow us on Twitter!

Episode 43- The Alien Quadrilogy

Just in time for the backlash against Prometheus, and the backlash against that backlash, we revisit the original Alien series, from the claustrophobic abject horror of 1979’s Alien all the way to 1997’s Alien: Resurrection in which Ripley comes back from the dead to audition for the Harlem Globetrotters (incidentally check out this video in which Sigourney Weaver describes/rationalizes that scene– my favourite line is “I tried to use the basketball as a weapon and keep playing”). Is the Alien Quadrilogy worth rewatching? To find out download the link below, or better yet subscribe on iTunes! And be sure to follow us on Twitter!
