With Sam Raimi’s Oz: The Great and Powerful opening this week, we decided to re-visit one of our childhood favourites, Walter Murch’s Return to Oz. While it’s notable for being renowned editor Walter Murch’s only directorial effort, its reputation is mainly built upon the fact that it TERRIFIED CHILDREN in 1985! Dorothy gets sent for shock-treatment! Everyone in Oz has been turned to fucking stone! Disembodied screaming heads! Dorothy eventually grows up to be a witch herself! Scary stuff. How did we feel about it now? To hear our discussion of Return to Oz, download the link below, or better yet, subscribe on iTunes! And be sure to follow us on Twitter!
