As an epilogue (or is it a prequel) to our Alien Quadrilogy podcast we have a quick chat about Ridley Scott’s Prometheus now that we’ve all seen it. To hear the discussion, download the link below, or better yet subscribe on iTunes. Check back tomorrow (Thursday) for this week’s regularly scheduled podcast on the topic of Don Bluth’s The Secret of Nimh.
Just in time for the backlash against Prometheus, and the backlash against that backlash, we revisit the original Alien series, from the claustrophobic abject horror of 1979’s Alien all the way to 1997’s Alien:Resurrection in which Ripley comes back from the dead to audition for the Harlem Globetrotters (incidentally check out this video in which Sigourney Weaver describes/rationalizes that scene– my favourite line is “I tried to use the basketball as a weapon and keep playing”). Is the Alien Quadrilogy worth rewatching? To find out download the link below, or better yet subscribe on iTunes! And be sure to follow us on Twitter!
This week we’re joined by guest Alex Huls, whose writing you can find at the official site of TVO’s Saturday Night at the Movies (one of my favourite programs) and read his New York Times Magazine article about Midnight Movies here.
